Best kept secret east of Doheny. This place hides in plain sight right on the corner of N Virgil and Temple. Why do I mention this? A good number of Angelenos plan their dining around traffic. This is situated close to the 101; a stretch of road where pigeons waddle past you.
But once you bite into that lamb all that negative energy and ambivalence about coming this far east ( ((of Doheny)); every pun intended) is forgotten. Even on a Tuesday in July one could exclaim "HAPPY DIWALI!!!"
The staple menu items are solid; marsalas, spinach curry, gobi, etc. I've seen the naan thrown against the real tandoori oven. The raita could be a little thicker in texture. Indian restaurants in general need the raita to be more like a Greek tzaziki or Persian maast o khiar but that's just the food snob in me. Then again the sauces have to be done right.
All things considered this place is definitely worth the trek if you're craving Authentic Indian on the outskirts of KTown; just drive south on Virgil or west on your way back from downtown avoiding the dreaded ten minute left turn in LA. -

Ok, we've ordered take out from here over 5 times at this point and at least half of those times they have messed up the order.
It was never a huge deal for us because we live really close and they've always been good replacing the items that were wrong, but this last time was the final straw. At least half of our order was wrong! It's ridiculous because they place was empty and they had 2 other to go orders. How can you screw up an order so badly and when you're not busy at all. I don't think we'll be coming back here again. Too much hassle! -

First, we ordered respectively mild and medium spicy for our curry dishes. Both of us got 3x the heat than we were expecting. Not a huge problem but still not what we ordered.
Second, while eating, we find tiny tiny little plastic hairs all over inside the curries. So much of it that it seemed like a spice at first. But on second look, they are all transparent and impossible to break.
I have seen this before from other restaurants that clearly microwaved the togo container, because perhaps it was so close to closing time-- but never with the plastic hairs inside the food. Only melty plastic coming off the lid. But we found both in this case. I don't even know if these containers are technically microwave safe?
Also it took about 15 minutes for the food to get to our house after placing the order (even though the place is 15 mins away from us), how could the food have been truly fresh? If you decide to order from here, especially if it's later, beware of microwaved delivery! Won't be trying this place again. -

One of my favorite Indian places! Highly recommend. Although, make sure to specify how spicy you want it if you order over the phone. Sometimes they forget to ask.

It's located in a strip mall and def not a place you'd go to for ambiance, but the food was solid. The lamb biryani was a huge portion that could feed multiple people, so keep that in mind when ordering. The table favorite was the lamb madras, which already has jalapeño in it so consider that when deciding how spicy to make it. The cheese naan is kinda quesadilla style but I loved it. Only disappointment was the chicken tikka as the sauce felt a little creamier than usual and without the flavor we were expecting. This would be a good option in the future for takeout or Postmates although you do get a discount when you check in in person.
